Vision for a Future School

HomeExhibitions Archive 2010Vision for a Future School

Shop gallery: 17 August to 12 September

During 2010 the Architecture Centre delivered a Real Ideas Organisation (RIO) creative education project with students from Heywood Community School and Dene Magna School in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.

The aim of the project was to encourage the students to: research the design of school buildings; evaluate their current school buildings and spaces; and develop a vision for a future school.

The project involved:

  • partnership working between the two schools
  • involvement of built environment professionals
  • visits to inspiring new school buildings
  • the use of toolkits to assess the quality of the indoor and outdoor spaces
  • the production of drawings, models and mood boards

This exhibition documents how the students explored design quality, sustainability, and both indoor and outdoor learning and social spaces.
