Education
The Architecture Centre has a long established and diverse education programme delivering engaging built environment education to children and young people in the south west region.
The built environment can be used to support the formal school curriculum and make connections between schools, young people and the wider community. Involving children and young people in design decisions about the places in which they live, learn and play can help produce inspiring buildings that are respected, instil a sense of ownership and community and are fit for purpose.
The Architecture Centre Education programme aims to:
- Provide support and information for education in the classroom, through the development of resources and projects relevant to the Built Environment.
- Provide learning opportunities outside the classroom through inspiring site visits and events held at the centre.
- Encourage the involvement of built environment professionals in education activities.
- Develop the Centre as an inspiring resource, through exhibitions, lectures and educational resources.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with other built environment, cultural and creative organisations both locally and nationally and support built environment and culutral education
