360° AWARDS FOR ARCHITECTURE AND BUILT ENVIRONMENT IN
EDUCATION
The
360° Awards were open to secondary school teachers of any
subject in the south west who focus on architecture and/or the
built environment in some way in their delivery of the curriculum.
This pilot scheme aimed to celebrate and reward the work of teachers
who are helping young people to better understand the world in
which they live by raising awareness of the places and spaces
that surround them.
Twenty two applications were received from Geography, History,
Art and Design, Design and Technology, Citizenship and Dance teachers,
from all across the region. They were assessed according to several
criteria – educational value, curriculum relevance, impact
and best practice. The judges were impressed by the creativity
and diversity of the projects and, after much deliberation, agreed
on seven runners up who each received an award of £500,
and one overall winner who received an award of £1500 to
further the good work of their department.
Overall Winner:
Stoke Damerel Community College, Plymouth – Citizenship
project in partnership with Plymouth Museum.

up:
Sheldon School, Swindon
Torquay Grammar School for Girls
Stoodley Knowle School, Torquay
