Fresh thinking for Stapleton Road

HomeEngaging communitiesProjectsFresh thinking for Stapleton Road

April 2007

Stapleton Road in east Bristol is a diverse shopping street, home to the largest selection of ethnic and speciality shops in the South West. This project aimed to support the local community in visualising how the area might be improved.

Local residents were invited to have their say in a drop-in shop and through community workshops and walkabouts. The Architecture Centre produced a display featuring inspirational regeneration case studies and thought-provoking questions about the area. Hundreds of comments were recorded and fed into an action plan, and a follow-up event was held in June.

The project was a partnership with Bristol East Side Traders, Easton & Lawrence Hill Neighbourhood Management Programme and South West Planning Aid.
