St Luke's School

HomeEvents Archive 2010St Luke's School

Talk: Thursday 11 February 2010, 18.30, £5/£3

The new St Luke’s CE primary school is a flagship project to create a radical new primary school at the heart of the Blakenhall Gardens regeneration area of Wolverhampton.

St Luke’s was the first primary school in Britain to achieve BREEAM Excellent status (the benchmark of sustainability for buildings). Demonstrating Architype’s eco-minimalist approach, the form and section of the building reduces energy consumption by maximising insulation and natural daylight, as well as using a passive ventilation system and carefully controlling solar gain. These are a few of the many sustainable elements that Jonathan Hines, Director of Architype, will be covering in this illuminating talk about the school’s design and construction.
