Sustainable Drainage Systems

Sustainable Drainage Systems
Arup auditorium. Booking through the Architecture Centre
Talk: Tuesday 23 March, 18.30, £5/£3
Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS) seek to mimic the natural run-off which occurs from the land prior to development, by slowing down the rate of flow and improving surface water run-off quality, before it arrives in the receiving watercourse. The importance placed on Flood Risk Assessments by the Environment Agency means that SUDS have to be considered early
in the planning process to ensure that they can be incorporated economically.
Clive Onions, Associate Director with Consulting Engineers Arup, will consider ways of achieving solutions which are cost effective and add to the overall quality of the built environment and to biodiversity.
This event is part of the Architecture Centre's Spring Green 2010 season, focusing on water and built environment sustainability.
