ALASTAIR
SAWDAY PUBLISHING GREEN OFFICES
Visit: Friday 24 March, 14.00, £6/4.50
Despite already having an office compost heap, a company car
that runs on recycled chip fat, and being the first carbon-neutral
publisher in the world, Alastair Sawday Publishing did not 'walk
the walk' when it came to their offices. The company's move in
January to converted barns at Yanley, just outside Bristol, was
largely provoked by a series of environmental audits that gave
them low marks for the performance of their current offices. The
new Yanley offices should produce a reduction in office carbon
emissions from 27.5 tonnes a year to just 7.5 - a 73% reduction.
On this visit we will see the new site, which includes a yurt,
bird-boxes, a tank to collect rainwater for the loos and showers,
an office allotment, and hear a talk from Alastair Sawday and
project contractor, Quentin Craven.
