FURNITURE TODAY – A LECTURE BY JEZ BROUN

Thursday 3 June, 19.00, £6.00/£4.50

Furniture like architecture is a barometer of social, economic and spiritual change. The furniture being created in Britain today is a continuum of tradition and indeed the best examples surpass any previous era.

Jez Broun looks at the New Golden Era of Furniture design against a historical backcloth - a snapshot tour 'from Magna Carta to Victoriana', highlights of 20th Century design milestones such as Bauhaus, Scandinavian and Italian design, to the 70's British Furniture Crafts Revival. Jez has lectured at the Design Museum and recently participated in the Charles Rennie Mackintosh centenary exhibition at the Hill House.
