HOW
TO BUILD AN ECO-COTTAGE
Talk: Wednesday 29 March, 18.00, £6/4.50
Michael Andrews is a wildlife TV producer and environmental
author who built his own energy-neutral eco-cottage in Cornwall.
His unusual building, sited in an Area of Outstanding Natural
Beauty, was rebuilt from an existing corrugated iron chalet, and
Michael researched and developed all the technical details of
the design himself.
Michael will talk through some of the difficulties he encountered
and the lessons he learnt, from planning consent to electricity
export, from breathing walls to alternative eco-friendly materials,
as well as explaining how he achieved energyneutrality with this
project. He will also explain how his ideas moved on from rebuilding
another conventional cottage 38 years ago.
