NEAL'S
YARD REMEDIES, DORSET
Visit: Monday 10 April, 9.00, £10.00/£8.00
Neal's Yard Remedies, retailer of natural toiletries, decided
to move from South London to Dorset to bring them closer to the
horticultural ingredients that form the basis of their products.
Completed April 2005, their new £1.95 million factory, warehouse
and office building – ‘Peacemarsh’ at Gillingham,
Dorset – is set in a hinterland of herb and flower cultivation
on a site that slopes gently towards the south west from where
it overlooks open countryside.
The building design is intended to reflect the ideals of the
company through the pursuance of a strong social and environmental
agenda and a carefully considered response to the building’s
operational requirements. This has created a sustainable building
which suits the organisation and is both unique and distinctive.
Alex Morris, project architect with Feilden
Clegg Bradley Architects, will give a talk and tour of the
building along with Andrew Purvis, Managing Director of Neal's
Yard Remedies.
