REDCLIFFE’S FUTURE - CREATIVE:RESPONSIVE:INCLUSIVE
Evening Seminar: Thursday 18 September 2003
Architect Mike Macrae talked about the house that he and Sandie
Macrae, his artist partner, have created for themselves just off
Redcliffe Parade - and the contribution that designers can make
to an urban environment through small but significant developments
of this kind. Clive Pulteney (Midshire Estates Ltd) and Gary Milliner
(Stride Treglown Architects) talked about their proposed scheme
for 25 Redcliffe Street/14-16 St. Thomas Street, which unlike
typically ‘placeless’ commercial development, deals
positively with its context. Keith Hallett (Bristol Urban Villages
Initiative) provided a background to the ‘Redcliffe Futures
Initiative’ currently being exhibited at the Architecture
Centre, setting out the group’s townscape vision for the
neighbourhood. Followed by a discussion chaired by Mark Pearson
(The Architecture Centre).
Kindly sponsored by Bristol City Council and jointly promoted
by The Urban Design Alliance, The Architecture Centre, The Redcliffe
Futures Group and Bristol City Council.
