TYNTESFIELD
A lecture by John McVerry at The Architecture Centre
Tuesday 20 April, 19.00, £6.50/£4.50
On June 14 2002, the National Trust announced a major new acquisition
- Tyntesfield. The Trust had purchased one of the last remaining
examples of a great country house built in the Victorian high
Gothic style, along with its contents, gardens and estates.
John McVerry is Project Director for Tyntesfield for the National
Trust. When Lord Wraxall died in 2001, John was part of the National
Trust team that launched the appeal and managed to secure the
property for the nation. The beauty of the place, the investment
of public funds and its proximity to Bristol has enabled Tyntesfield
to become a pilot in linking heritage and people in a very modern
way.
