CITY VS CAR: CAN A BALANCE BE STRUCK?

Ben Hamilton-Baillie (West of England Strategic Partnership) talked about cars and communities suggesting ways in which traffic engineering and urban design might combine. John Grimshaw (Director, Sustrans) talked about the approach to public realm design and transport planning advocated by Sustrans - the sustainable transport charity that works on practical projects to encourage people to walk, cycle and use public transport in order to reduce motor traffic and its adverse effects. Followed by a discussion chaired by Keith Hallett (The Bristol Urban Villages Initiative).
