40 x 40: FORTY Architects FORTY Projects
Exhibition: Wednesday 18 to Sunday 22 January 2012
FORTY architects FORTY projects was a competition organised by the Bristol and Bath Branch of the RIBA and the Bristol Society of Architects (BBSA). It was open to architects and designers who have been involved in a building or element of a building with a value of less than approximately £100,000.
The judges were asked to select the most technically successful photographic image in terms of composition, colour, atmosphere, and the image that best conveyed an architectural intent. This exhibition presents the selected entries.
“This unusual exhibition proposition offered architects the opportunity to celebrate their creativity and communicate their passion for design. A few rose to the challenge, producing striking but sometimes enigmatic images of their work that leave the viewer aching to find out more about the project and its designers."
Richard Parnaby, Professor of Architecture, UWE“In this selection the images that stood out were those that most succinctly described the architect’s narrative. Learning what not to frame is as important to photography as learning what lines to omit is critical to good drawing.”
