Eco-Renovation in Bristol

HomeExhibitions Archive 2010Eco-Renovation in Bristol

Shop gallery: 11 September to 17 October

Few of us are able to build our dream ‘eco home’ from scratch – but in fact, renovating an existing property can be an even more sustainable solution. And with soaring fuel bills and concern about climate change, more and more people are looking for ways to reduce energy and resource consumption in the home. This exhibition in the Architecture Centre’s downstairs gallery provides both inspiration and information about how we can eco-renovate the houses we live in today.

Focusing on the real-life story of two refurbished Bristol houses, one Victorian, one 1930s, the exhibition looks at the key elements in carrying out a sustainable refurbishment, including energy- and water-saving measures, using reclaimed and natural materials, minimising waste, and installing renewable energy technologies. Whether you have grand designs or simply want to achieve a swift makeover, the exhibition is full of practical advice to take your project to the next stage.
