Greenprint: Design for sustainable living
Main gallery
30 January - 7 April 2007
With the twin challenges of climate change and an acknowledged housing shortage, the need to construct ‘sustainably’ is higher than ever on the agenda. So how should we build to protect the future of the planet? What can we learn from recent sustainable housing developments? And what is it really like to live in an eco house?
From self-build and community projects to developer-led schemes, the exhibition explores a range of low-impact housing solutions employing a wide variety of materials and techniques. Showcasing examples from the South West and beyond, Greenprint: Design for Sustainable Living presents a fascinating snapshot of the state of sustainable housing today. As well as project descriptions, images and models the exhibition features interviews with people who live in the developments and those who were involved in planning and building them – thus presenting a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at sustainability in action.
The exhibition marks the launch of Spring Green - The Architecture Centre’s spring sustainability season, which will include a number of workshops, talks and site tours. See our events page for full details.
