New Growth
New Growth
Main gallery
17 March - 31 May 2009
The Architecture Centre and Groundwork South West with the support of Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios have commissioned four artists to respond to the Spring Green 2009 theme of urban green space and green infrastructure. The artists in the Spring Green exhibition will consider the biodiversity of Brownfield sites, green corridors, foraging, the impact of housing growth on the rural/urban fringe and community responses to urban green space. The artists Rebecca Beinart, Jenna Collins, John Dummett and Andrew Dodds all engage with both the natural and the designed/built environment, and through their differing interests and practice, offer us varied perspectives on the Spring Green themes. Working in a variety of media, producing temporary work, they will use different locations in and around Bristol, with The Architecture Centre’s gallery acting as project hub, to provoke debate and audience interaction.
Contemporary archaeologist James Dixon will engage with the artists and the Spring Green themes during the course of the exhibition.
Rebecca Beinart conducted two walks along the Malago river, find out more.
