2003 RICS SCHOOLS COMPETITION ON SUSTAINABLE DELEVELOPMENT

Exhibition: Tue 20 - Fri 30 January 2004

This exhibition displays the prize-winning submissions for the third annual RICS Schools Competition on Sustainable Development for Geography A-level students, held at the University of the West of England in Bristol (UWE) last November.
Pupils came up with ideas for developing Wapping Wharf – the last remaining derelict site on Bristol Harbourside – with a team from Patchway High School in Bristol winning first prize of £500 for the school. Their scheme was a 45,000m2 mixed development of housing, offices and leisure space, which they valued at £60 million, and described as “a balance between the conflicting priorities of the environment, economy and society”.
