APPROACH2
Exhibition: Tuesday 16 August – Sunday 18 September
2 new major cultural buildings planned for Bristol by the City
Council and two very different architectural practices.
Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England
Bristol City Council is creating two new cultural buildings within
the city centre, investing in the city’s urban fabric and
actively seeking to raise the level of new architecture in Bristol.
Situated at either end of St Augustine’s Reach, the new
Museum of Bristol and Colston Hall Foyer will reinvigorate
sites which resonate within the memories of Bristolians; adding
21st century facilities, new public spaces and a touch of glamorous
new design. This exhibition will explore the different approaches
by architects Lab Architecture Studio and Levitt Bernstein to
the design of new public buildings and stimulate discussion on
the importance of good architecture to the sustainability of cities.
A series of talks will be taking place at The Architecture Centre:
