A
SPECIAL PLACE - BUILT WITH US IN MIND
Exhibition: Tuesday 12 June – Sunday 1 July
This exhibition celebrates the creative process of making architecture
from a young person’s point of view, focusing on a real
architectural journey:
• field trips and workshops
• the dialogue and exchange of knowledge between the clients
• the Room 13 artists of all ages and the architects Mitchell
Taylor Workshop watching close up as their new Room 13 studio
was being built
• the day-to-day experience of making a architectural space
work for themselves
Room 13 is an independent artists’ studio, based at Hareclive
Primary School. The studio facilitates the work of young artists
from the school alongside an employed professional adult artist-in-residence,
providing an exchange of ideas, skills and experience across the
ages. Room 13 aims to promote artistic & intellectual development,
along with business & enterprise skills since each management
team of young people must meet the running costs of their own
studio.
‘We can’t wait to move into our new studio as we
feel it is a massive sign of young people from Hartcliffe making
things happen for themselves.’
Lauren Budd, 11 years old, Secretary 2006/7
On display will be drawings, photographs, sketch-up images and
time-lapse films from the young person’s perspective (9
– 14 years of age).
