BROADMEAD EXPANSION

The proposed redevelopment of Bristol’s city centre took an important step forward in August 2003 when detailed designs were submitted to the Council.
The Bristol Alliance - whose £500 million investment is set to rejuvenate the Broadmead shopping centre - promised a city centre to rival the finest in Europe.

The scheme has already been granted outline permission by Bristol City Council and was endorsed by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister at the beginning of 2003. Detailed consent would enable work to start on site as early as next summer - which would mean completion by 2007.
