PEUGEOT DESIGN AWARDS 2003

For anyone interested in the hottest, most ingenious and stylish
contemporary design objects created by the UK’s established
and emerging design talent, this exhibition is a must!
Each Year the OXO Peugeot Design Awards showcases the most innovative
new work by UK Designers. Among 2003’s winners are an inflatable
office that comes out of a bucket; a giant tube that knots into
a comfy and stylish sofa: a fabric that is sculpted to become
three-dimensional and Pantone mugs for that perfect cup of tea!
This year the panel of judges included Wayne Hemingway –
Designer and TV presenter, Dr Louise Taylor – Director of
the Crafts Council and Professor Clare Johnston – head of
textiles at the RCA and head of design at Liberty, to name a few…The
exhibition features the 12 finalists and overall winner along
with an image wall showing the 59 shortlisted entries.Visitors
have the opportunity to take part in the ‘people’s
poll’ and vote for their favourite object. Will you agree
with the judges’ selection?
The
OXO Peugeot Design Awards were established in 1998 to reward excellence
in contemporary design by encouraging and promoting the work of
new designers.The awards are open to all UK-based designers for
individual products in five categories – applied metal design;
ceramics/glass/polymers; furniture; lighting; and textiles –The
awards are presented for innovation and excellence in contemporary
design.
