MODEL
CITY
Exhibition: 26 July – 4 September
‘Model City’ brings the seductive remains of a consumer
age into a playful collision with the utopian and the architectural.
Discarded cardboard boxes of domestic products and consumables
are adapted into building blocks and stacked into vertical structures
of fragmented text, logos, brand and lifestyle imagery. The viewer
is invited to imagine these stacks as a model for an infinite
architectural landscape of mega-towers or vertical cities. The
installation both reflects an image of the way we live and questions
our desires and aspirations for the architecture around us.
Influenced by their experiences of architectural space and how
it is articulated by the figure, Sophie Warren and Jonathan Mosley
collaborate on projects that respond to place and context through
architecture, intervention and gallery based installation. Their
work has been exhibited locally and internationally, and reviewed
in both architectural and art journals.
