Gillian Brent - Outlook exhibitionOUTLOOK - GILLIAN BRENT

Exhibition: Friday 16 June - Sunday 9 July

The first thing many people do when they walk into a room is to go and look out of the window. Outlook is a site-specific installation for the Architecture Centre gallery which by ‘interfering’ with the space and its function, focuses on how people navigate a room in order to look outside.

Gillian has chosen to work with ordinary materials used in construction and DIY such as rope, cable and tubing, to build see-through ‘walls’ that restructure the space.

The installation is continued on the outside of the building with cable linking the first and second storey balconies to construct another layer outside the window.

The installation continues the artist’s exploration of the boundaries between sculpture, architectural features and functional objects, and how different use of materials can affect a space.
